Unlike other electronic devices, computer is the sum of its parts. Nobody cares about the specifications and make of the picture tube of a particular brand of television. But in the case of computers, more than the brand name the specifications of its components like processor, motherboard, RAM, hard disk, and suchlike are the things that a knowledgeable consumer first asks about. Here is computer hardware terminology in a nutshell.

Processor or microprocessor is a powerful IC chip on which a number of functions are incorporated. It is the heart and brain of the computer rolled into a chip. Its efficiency depends on its speed of processing, which is specified by its frequency and it is denoted using gigahertz. The higher the speed, the better will be its functioning. Also, there are several types of processors such as 32-bit processor and 64-bit processor. The bit rate is not actually a yardstick of speed. The larger bit rate means the processor will be able to efficiently do several computing processes at the same time.

Another main item in computer hardware terminology is motherboard. In simple terms, it is the platform on which all the other components are electrically fitted in. Over the years, a number of additional functionalities such as sound card, graphics card, and networking card are slotted on to the motherboard. When selecting motherboard, one should make sure that the motherboard is compatible with other components such as processor, hard disk, and RAM.

Hard disk and RAM are the next items in the hierarchy of computer hardware terminology. A computer has two types of memory. Permanent memory is stored magnetically on hard disk and it will be stored in the disk even after the computer is shut down. On the other hand, RAM or random access memory will be off once the computer is shut down. It is the kind of memory on which the functional information while running a computer, like running programs and unsaved data, are kept when computer is running. When you save a file, the data is stored to hard disk from RAM.

Nowadays the memory capacity of hard disk is skyrocketing. It is all set to break the upper limits of gigabytes. Comparing to that, RAM was a slow starter. It is still ambling along the lower middle part of gigabytes. Lay users do not need a RAM with a large capacity. The price of RAM increases with the rise in memory capacity.

Computer peripherals like keyboard, mouse, monitor, CD or DVD drives and writers, speaker, and webcams are all part of a large list called computer hardware terminology. There are other hardware items also such as graphics card, sound card and video card for sound recording and video editing facility, and internal and external modems for browsing the internet.

Everyone with a computer is looking to have the fastest, and most efficient computer filled with the latest computer hardware technology. But to keep up with the continual changes as technology becomes more and more advanced requires complete upgrades on your computer. But, what are the best computer upgrades available?

Memory Upgrade

A memory upgrade is one of the most popular computer hardware upgrades and one of the easiest to do to boost the performance of your pc. But before you do a memory upgrade first check the BIOS operating system to determine how much memory is already on your system.

Also to upgrade your memory it will be necessary for you to open the case of your computer to find out how many modules are currently installed and how many slots are still empty. If all the slots are already filled you may have to remove the modules and replace them with larger ones.

Now, after finding out the current memory situation, review your operating system and application programs to determine how much memory is needed to make your computer perform at its peek level. In general, these programs provide a minimum and a recommended rating. So to reach the fullest potential of your computer, the memory should meet or exceed the recommended level.

Ok, so you now have some basic information to do your memory upgrade, but hold on a second, before running out and buying more memory, check your computer manual or go directly to the motherboard to find out what type of memory is supported by the current computer operating system. If you don’t check this out you will most likely get the wrong memory chips and the memory upgrade will not work.

Also keep in mind When buying a memory upgrade module, that it is best to buy the largest amount of memory with the least number of modules. This way, there is room for growth in the future. For example, instead of buying two 512MB modules, purchase one 1gb module.

Video Card Upgrade

A video card upgrade makes it possible to play all of the great games that are currently available on the market. In fact, some games are so advanced that they won’t play at all without a very powerful video card.

But it can be tough choosing the right video card since there are literally dozens available. It is very important to first take a look at the motherboard to determine what type of video cards are supported by the system, you can also check your computer manual on the types of video cards your system will support. The best video cards are the ones that transfer data the fastest. In order from the fastest to slowest cards are PCI express, AGP 8x, AGP 4x, AGP 2x, AGP and PCI.

Sound Card Upgrade

The sound card improves the sound produced by the computer. This makes computer gaming more enjoyable, as well as listening to music and watching digital media.

In order to install a sound card, you need to locate an available ISA slot on the back of your computer. These slots are the longest sockets on the motherboard and there might be other cards already installed in those sockets. There are two internal openings on each of the slots at the back of the computer. So, remove the access plate at the rear of the socket to insert the sound card. Make sure the access plate on the sound card covers the hole created by removing the initial access plate. But, be sure to gently insert the sound card with a slow back and forth movement, otherwise the sound card can be damaged.

DVD Player/Burner Upgrade

With so many digital videos becoming available, many people are looking to upgrade to a DVD player and burner combo. The most powerful DVD player/burner currently available is the DVD+R/RW. These do tend to, however, be incompatible with older DVD-ROM drives and DVD players. But the current big names in the industry, such as Sony, HP, and Phillips, support these players. DVD+R/RW drives are faster than previous models and are capable of formatting while burning data to the disc.

Motherboard Upgrade

Now for those of you who are truly serious about upgrading your computer hardware, motherboard upgrades are another popular option. But of course, a motherboard upgrade is the most difficult upgrade to do and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t have a strong background in computers and electronics. For those of you who can manage, however, you will certainly enjoy the freedom of never having to buy a new computer. Instead, the motherboard can be upgraded as technology advances.

In addition to eliminating the need to buy a new computer, a motherboard upgrade also makes it easier to upgrade other components on your computer. This is because purchasing a motherboard ensures receiving the most up to date technology, which is then compatible with other upgrade components.

New Technology, Classic Designs

Schlage has always been known for making top quality locks hardware and security systems. Since the 1920s, the company has been at the forefront of lock technology with specially designed keys that are resistant to copying and tampering. Now, they have several new options in home security including keyless deadbolts.

The new line of Schlage deadbolts features the use of keypads. Only an authorized person can enter the door with an assigned 4-digit combination. A total of 19 unique pass codes can be saved at a time. These keypads are not the clunky obtrusive machines you might imagine. In fact, they are neatly installed in regular, classical looking deadbolts and levers. They can fit on any American prep door, with no extra drilling. They come in several stylish designs including Camelot, Century, and Plymouth all available in bright brass, satin nickel and antique bronze finishes.

Schlage locks come in both lever and deadbolt designs, with either the AutoLock or FlexLock features. AutoLocks have no levers or thumb turn-keys on the inside. Five seconds after closing the door, they will automatically lock. This is great for shops, storage rooms and doors to basement stairways. Don’t worry if you are locked in — there is an emergency button for a panic-free exit. With FlexLocks, turn-keys on the inside allows manual locking.

Remote Unlocking and Keypad Access

One of the best new features of the Schlage lock’s hardware is their network capability. Their keypads can communicate via Z-waves, making them accessible online through the Bridge secure software. This allows you to manage pass code assignments through a computer or phone, wherever you are. You can remotely unlock the doors, or wirelessly block pass codes and assign new ones. If you are the administrator of the lock, you can receive emails and text alerts whenever someone uses the door. The Bridge identifies the person with the assigned four digit code. This is best for high security rooms which may contain cash, land titles, bonds and other important documents.

Also with the Z-wave network, you can add lighting and video camera accessories to your Bridge remote access. Even if no one is home, you can turn the lights on or off. You can also set the house lights to “greet” you and turn themselves on ahead. The network capability needs no extra wire or locks hardware. The necessary tools are already built-in with the door piece, together with a 9-volt battery. This alkaline battery has a lifetime of 3 years. There is also no need to remove the deadbolt from the door if you have to program it. The keypad itself can be used to program the locks and assign pass codes.

Every business owner constantly seeks out new ways to save money. Luckily, there is a way where almost any company can save significantly on an essential purchase and not compromise at all on quality or service.

Eventually, most businesses that run an internal network will want to buy Cisco network hardware. The reason will be either to replace outdated networking equipment, to improve networking performance, or to expand the network because of business growth. When this time comes, a business owner should seriously consider buying used Cisco hardware instead of buying brand new equipment.

There are three main reasons why buying used is a smart decision for any business:

1. Cost savings – Of course, it is obvious that refurbished Cisco equipment is going to be much cheaper than buying a brand new router or switch right off the assembly line. But the savings to an I.T. department can be considerable without sacrificing anything with regards to quality and reliability. At the extreme, a company can save as much as 90% off of the original retail price for certain Cisco models. If the equipment performs well and the performance is satisfactory, such lower-priced models of routers, switches or memory can be a financial lifesaver. The savings can be so considerable that it may make sense to by replacement equipment to have on hand as insurance; when a network goes down, every minute of downtime can cost money.

2. Reliability – Most reputable used Cisco vendors perform refurbishment that restores the Cisco equipment to like new condition. In addition, the networking hardware is thoroughly tested, plus the entire process is backed by a quality-assurance system that is certified by a third party. A dealer that has an ISO-certified quality management process will help to ensure that the equipment you get will perform at its best and last a long time.

3. Service – The best used Cisco dealers offer unbeatable service; usually better than you can receive from most new equipment dealers. The equipment they sell should have an excellent warranty. And if anything should go wrong, they should be easy to reach and be sending out replacement equipment immediately. Also, top vendors should offer a next business day replacement program that will provide new equipment before the old equipment needs to be sent back. Speed is of the essence!

Lastly… an important point. If you are considering buying used Cisco network hardware, you should be looking at reputable vendors. Often there are unscrupulous dealers who will sell you inferior or even counterfeit equipment. Be certain that the company you are dealing with offers top-quality Cisco networking equipment, that it has been in business for a long time, that it has testimonials and references you can check, and that it backs up the equipment with a bona fide warranty.

From the perspective of a teenager or youngster playing a computer game is one of the most loved entertainment and they simply desire to indulge into the gaming world and deliver their best effort to win it. With the evolution of the gaming industry, computer and video games are becoming more and more complex and gaming engineers are now able to develop them with superior graphics and sound effects which are closer to reality due to the superior 3D programming and special effects. This technological advancement resulted in a newer generation of gaming where speed and accuracy are crucial for winning the video game. That is why professional gamers prefer to use only the gaming grade hardware to interact with their video or computer game.

A computer mouse, keyboard, headphones and computer screen are the hardware devices that are used to interact with your computer game. Mouse, keyboard and microphone are direct input devices that sends the data to your computer or video game, while on the other hand a computer screen (LCD, LED, CRT) and speakers are the output devices that delivers the data from the computer to the player. Out of these devices the most important ones are the mouse and keyboard because these input devices are responsible to control the computer game. An ordinary computer mouse and keyboard lacks the ability to provide the desired speed and accuracy which is needed for good performance during the game-play.

Computer Mouse Comparison

An ordinary laser based computer mouse uses a 800dpi (dots per inch), this number directly relates to the movement of your mouse on the computer screen, a higher dpi number means better control on your mouse movement. When you use a gaming grade mouse it will have at least 5 times higher dpi number than ordinary PC mouse. Gaming mice utilizes the high precision laser sensor technology to achieve higher dpi number. Latest gaming mice in the market offers a dpi number of 4000 or higher, which explains why a gamer mouse hardware is powerful in comparison to ordinary computer mouse. Additional features of a gaming mouse includes:

1) hyper-response buttons for fast communication with the video game,
2) Programmable keys also called macros which are used to interact with the game directly from the mouse buttons,
3) Customizable LED lights,
4) Adjustable mouse weight,
5) Ergonomic design for long hours of game-play.

Computer Keyboard Comparison

The comparison of an ordinary computer keyboard with a gaming level keyboard is very important because a computer keyboard is the most important input device to submit data to your computer. A gaming grade keyboard has the following features that make it superior gaming hardware for best performance during the game-play:

1) hyper-response keys for ultimate speed in interacting with your game,
2) Several programmable keys or macros to provide better control on your game directly from your keyboard,
3) Soft keys and wrist rests for comfortable long sessions of game-play,
4) Custom illuminated LED lights to adjust colours of selected keys to enable faster communication with your game even in dark environment. A standard computer keyboard does not include such features and hence cannot be used by professionals for best performance in their computer game.

When you are looking for new networking equipment for your business, concern for the environment isn’t always at the top of the punch list. What probably is at the top are factors such as:

Quality of the hardware

Price

Ease of getting all the equipment you need

Ability for vendor to fill your order in a timely manner

Customer service

But why not become eco friendly while you are looking into new telecom hardware for your company? It’s actually quite easy, and with a reputable distributor you can satisfy most other items on your punch list. When it comes to hardware there’s nothing better for the environment than not having to have any more equipment built than what is all ready left the manufacturers’ plants. That’s why used and refurbished equipment is a great idea. It’s a recycling or recirculation program for networking equipment.

Quality: A reputable distributor will have each piece of equipment that goes out the door go through a quality assurance process, to make sure it is reliable and will perform like new. Many will also offer a warranty.

Price: The price will typically be less than if you were to buy new.

Ease: Since the distributor doesn’t need room for manufacturing, and isn’t necessarily loyal to one brand, it can warehouse many more items from many more manufacturers.

Filling orders: With broader inventories you can usually find what you need from one supplier.

Customer service: There’s no reason why it would be any different than a manufacturer, except that they have a reason to keep you satisfied. They would love you to come back because 1) they would like you to be a customer again and 2) they may want you to come back to them with your equipment so they can resell it again or provide other asset management services.

We’ve raved around the GF11X that lives underneath the vapor-cooled copper and aluminum block of each the GeForce GTX58X and GTX57X; it’s the finest pieces of Nvidia’s Fermi (GF100), with the unwanted heat (largely) removed and racket just about entirely silenced. Other GF11X adjustments involve the capacity to filter two times the FP16 pixels per cycle as opposed to the GF 100, and it has a brand new Z-culling/rejection algorithm for superior rendering in video games. The transistors that construct the very complex GTX58X and 57X GPUs are also substantially less leaky than the ones of the GF100. Like Nvidia’s current DX11 graphics cards, this pair supports Nvidia Surround multi-display technology and 3d Vision (SLI mandatory for both), as well as PhysX, SLI, and CUDA-based GPU processing.

Fermi 2. 0 Numbers
The GF11X in Nvidia’s reference GeForce GTX58X includes a full supplement of 16 Sms enabled, which allows it 512 CUDA processors, 64 texture units, and 48 ROPs. The GeForce GTX57X employs the same GF11X, but with 15 active Sms, for 480 CUDA processors, 60 texture units, and 40 ROPs. Ram bandwidth on the GTX58X is 192. 4GBps, in comparison to the GTX57X’s 152GBps. The former owes its larger spec to the 384-bit bus and quicker 1536MB GDDR5 frame buffer, cycled at 1002MHz. The GTX57X’s 1280MB frame buffer runs on a 320-bit bus and is cycled at 950MHz. The reference GTX58X and 57X feature processor cycles of 772MHz and 732MHz, respectively, but as you’ll find, there’s still space for development. The GTX58X is presently the quickest single-GPU graphics card a person can purchase, and, in spite of a somewhat slower ram subsystem, the GTX57X performs right on par with GTX 480 but is priced considerably less. At this time, there weren’t many non-reference GTX58Xs and 57Xs obtainable, but the ones we could get our fingers on performed very well. Continue reading to see if any of these graphics gorillas meet your needs.

How Did We Test?
Our screening computer consists of a 3.33 Gigahertz Intel processor i7-980X (Extreme-Edition), Gigabyte X58, 6 Gigs of Patriot Sector 7, a 128 Gig Patriot Zephyr Drive, and an Antec TruePower Quattro 1200 power supply. The computer runs Windows 7 64-bit. We ran the cards’ raw tessellation abilities using Unigine Heaven; synthetic gaming prowess with 3DMark 11′s Extreme setting; and real-world DirectX 9/10.1/11 gaming functionality using Left 4 Dead 2, Just Cause 2, and Aliens versus Predator. We used the most current Nvidia drivers out there at the time of this article, ForceWare version 263.09.

Evga GeForce GTX57X “Supercycled”
Evga’s GeForce GTX57X Supercycled doesn’t appear to be much of a contender at first glance, and like Zotac’s GTX58X AMP!, its PCB design and cooling device are centered on Nvidia’s reference style. That doesn’t hold it back, however; the stock GTX57X is cool, noiseless, and a great performer. Evga did a little messing around when it comes to the processor and ram cycles, increasing them to 797MHz and 975MHz, respectively. As with the original cards, the backplane includes twin DVI ports and a mini HDMI port. A couple of SLI fittings and two 6pin PCIE power fittings can be uncovered on the top edge of the card. Evga packages the GTX57X Supercycled with a driver cd, Evga Precision overcycleing application, a mini-HDMI-to-HDMI adapter, DVIto-VGA adapter, and a couple of 6pin PCIE power adapters. With this one, you even get Evga’s 24/7 technical assistance and a limited life time warranty. In the benchmarks, Evga’s 65MHz processor push is sufficient to show substantial gains on the reference card and also outpace the lower-cycled GTX57X from M.S.I. Selling for noticeably less than the initial MSRP, Evga’s Supercycled 57X is a good buy for gaming lovers.

M.S.I N57XGTX TwinFrozer 2
M.S.I was able to deliver us its TwinFrozer 2 edition of the GTX57X, which uses, as far as we know, Nvidia’s reference PCB, but M.S.I saddled it with an awesome nickel-plated copper and aluminum heatsink bristling with five heatpipes and protected with an appealing plate of gunmetal dull aluminum. There are a pair of 80mm fans and a low-profile heatsink for the ram and other parts. M.S.I used only solid capacitors for this product. According to M.S.I, the innovative cooling device is accountable for a 20 degrees Celsius and 8.4 dB noise decrease, compared to the reference GTX57X. From where we’re sitting, this card runs as peaceful as any enthusiast card we’ve examined. M.S.I also tuned the processor and ram cycles to 786MHz and 1050MHz, respectively. Included extras consist of a driver cd, mini HDMI adapter, DVI-to-VGA adapter, and dual PCIE power adapters. The incorporated M.S.I Afterburner application lets you increase the processor and ram cycles even more, and the three-year warranty is a good incentive. Though the higher-overcycled GTX57Xs from Evga and Palit marginally outperformed M.S.I’s card in 3DMark 11, they each fell to the N57XGTX TwinFrozer 2 in Aliens versus Predator, at each resolution. With its beefy cooling device and overcycleing program, M.S.I’s GTX57X gives you the resources to destroy the opposition.

Palit GeForce GTX57X Sonic Platinum
We’ve tested a variety of Sonic Platinum cards from Palit, and as a result, we had substantial anticipation for the GeForce GTX57X Sonic Platinum; Palit didn’t fail. Of all the cards in this roundup, Palit’s was the only one with a remodeled PCB. Though a PCB revamp will often indicate price reducing, Palit seems to have been at minimum somewhat inspired by the drive to pump more power to the GF110; there are 6pin and 8pin PCIE power fittings on the top edge of the card, like the ones located on the GTX58X. The cooling device in the GTX57X Sonic Platinum is really comparable to M.S.I’s, but there’s a less exposing plastic shroud on it. We equally adore that Palit found it fit to incorporate DisplayPort and full-sized HDMI ports. Palit pushed the processor cycle higher than each Evga and M.S.I-to 800MHz. The ram cycle also got pushed to 1, 000MHz. Palit included a driver cd, DVI-to-VGA adapter, and a PCIE power adapter. In the benchmarks, Palit topped the rest of the GTX57Xs in our collection of synthetic benchmarks, including 3DMark 11 and Unigine Heaven. Real-world results were really similar, but Palit’s card only split from the bunch in Just Cause 2 at 2560 x 1600. While priced similarly to Evga’s offering, we think overcyclers will get more performance for their money with this one.

Sparkle Calibre GTX58X
Sparkle’s quite boastful of its take on Nvidia’s GeForce GTX58X, and rightfully so. The GeForce GTX58X Calibre is one of the most enormous cards we’ve actually had our paws on. The three-PWM-fan-equipped Accelero Xtreme cooling device buckled to the GTX58X reference PCB is entirely three slots wide, and the copper heatpipe/aluminum fin set up reaches an additional inch past the PCB at the end and a quarter inch on the top. Remarkably, Sparkle claims that the cooling device is capable of successfully cooling up to 240 watts, but the reference GTX58X is a 244-watt graphics card. In spite of the difference, we didn’t notice any performance problems, and the card ran plenty quiet for our likes. If you plan to SLI a couple of these, use flexible fittings and a motherboard with broadly divided PCIE slots. Sparkle cranked the processor and ram cycles to 810MHz and 1008MHz, respectively. Bundled add-ons include a driver cd, 8pin PCIE power adapter, DVI-to-VGA adapter, and HDMI cable. As you can guess, the GTX58X Calibre outpaced the reference 58X by a good margin in all assessments and was only bested by the higher-cycled Zotac GTX58X AMP! card. With such an impressive cooling device, we’d be stunned if you couldn’t bump the cycles even more, which might help warrant this card’s similarly striking cost.

Zotac GeForce GTX58X AMP!
With GeForce GTX58X AMP!, Zotac argues that a lot can be achieved with Nvidia’s reference PCB and the original cooling device. Zotac’s correct: This card may not seem like a lot, but they were able to boost the processor and ram cycles further than Sparkle, to 815MHz and 1025MHz. All other characteristics, save the fire-breathing dragon label, reflect those of the reference model, such as the two DVI ports and mini HDMI port on the backplane and the 6pin and 8pin PCIE power fittings on top of the card. Accessories include 6pin and 8pin PCIE power adapters, a mini HDMI-to-HDMI adapter, and DVI-to-VGA adapter. The 58X AMP! also ships with Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and the Zotac Boost Premium program bundle, which consists of the Cooliris browser plug-in, XBMC, Kylo browser for HTPCs, and CUDA-accelerated demonstrations of vReveal and Nero Vision Xtra. In the benchmarks, Zotac’s card pushed and shoved its way to the top of the stack, thanks mainly to better processor and ram cycles. Though it’s priced substantially higher than the stock card, Zotac’s remarkable overcycle and included extras make it a deserving choice for gaming fanatics.

Nvidia’s Enthusiast Selection
Having got our mitts on some overcycleed reference boards and even a few overhauls from the PCB on up, we can certainly declare that the graphics cards structured on the GF110 are a serious gamer’s treat. There’s a broad price variety here, as well, so any major game addict should be able to find something that works at their price point. The GTX58X and 57X won’t make you better at games, but with any of them, you simply can’t lose.

Satellite TV for PC Elite Edition is an incredible for anybody who is ultimately trying to create an incredible entertainment system through their computer – you’ll have the entertainment television world at the tip of your fingertips! This is how far technology has come – and you’ll ultimately embrace this software once you get your hands on it.

The Hardware Requirements

First off, let’s start off with the simple requirements – you have to have an internet connection simply because the internet is how you will watch your Satellite TV. The Free-To-Air programs are picked up using the Satellite TV software, and you’ll have to stream it to your computer in order to watch it.

You’ll be able to watch literally thousands of televisions channels instantly when you finally get an internet connection. 56K modem is required, but a Internet broadband is definitely recommended.

You will also want to have an updated version of Windows or MAC as well. Although Satellite Distributors and producers all over the internet wanted a huge variety of people to use the software and watch it on any computer including Windows ’95; you may want an updated version to enhance your experience.

You will also want a set of working speakers and the ability to display a relatively good amount of color. A Pentium III processor, or a MAC equivalent or higher will do you just fine. Here’s a simple test to see if Satellite television will work on your computer.

Testing Your Computer’s Hardware

There are several things you can do. You can go watch a sample video using “Windows Movie Maker” or a Apple equivalent of the program. You can also go online to YouTube and watch a video. If you can watch the video and it shows up with full sound and streams right through without stopping frequently [give it time to load] – then you’ll be able to watch live streaming broadcasts from thousands of channels straight to your desktop.

Additional Notes

When using the software – you want to make sure that you put your computer display to the highest color setting, install some type of real player, windows media player, or Quicktime so that you will be able to stream the Satellite TV for PC broadcasts. It’s an incredible software – but you just have to make sure you have these basic requirements – the chances are that if you are reading this – you are capable of watching Satellite TV on PC!

One of the first things a gamer or a pilot training on a airplane simulator will look for is realism. Clearly sitting in a multi million dollar cockpit simulator that physically moves as the controls are operated, is going to feel more authentic than being sat in front of a PC with nothing except a keyboard, mouse and monitor for company.

However all is not lost for the budding home pilot due to the huge array of realistic cockpit style peripherals that are available to purchase. Here I am going to take you through some of the equipment that can be used to turn your PC desk into a jumbo for just a few hundred dollars. Any good quality airplane simulator will provide support for these peripheral devices.

Control Systems and Yokes

To pilot your simulator two options exist the first of these being flight control systems that consist of two joysticks one allowing control of direction and the second thrust. These controllers can have numerous other functions programmed to their many buttons and in some cases even small displays.

Flight yokes are like the central part of your steering wheel but not joined at the top or bottom. They are controlled by both hands and are a little more intuitive way of piloting than the flight control system. Yoke brackets are available to fix them to your desk and position them as they would be in a real aircraft.

Flight yokes are often combined with throttle (thrust) quadrant that has varying numbers of levers, but typically three, to control the aircraft engines.

The final part of the controls for flight are rudder controls which come in the form of foot pedals and control the numerous flaps positioned around the aircraft.

Switch Panels

A typical cockpit in a real aircraft has a multitude of other buttons and to replicate this Switch panels are available that perform whatever in game function you program them for. Real enthusiast will typically have 2 or more of these switch panels that whilst adding complexity, make the simulator experience much more intense and realistic.

Similarly panels with additional buttons that resemble radio equipment on an actual aircraft are available.

Visuals

Looking through a real cockpit window a pilot would have at least a 180 degree field of vision. Obviously a monitor cannot provide this on its own being unable to bend around the pilot. However combing multiple monitors positioned to replicate the windows of an aircraft is an option particularly with technology such as ATI’s eyefinity control which spreads one desktop window over multiple screens.

To aid this a desk with wing attachments or flexible monitor mounting brackets can be used to position the simulator pilot correctly in the centre of the monitors.

Information panels are also available that mimic real aircraft, in particular a large gyroscope panel is typically available for purchase, being one of the central instruments in a cockpit setup.

Other Flight Gear

In addition to the control and visual elements of a game, headsets that closely resemble real pilot head attire can be purchased. Whilst any PC headset is suitable for in game chat on the simulators that support it, having the item styled like that of a pilot again just adds to the realism.

Finally we come to flight chairs, a very expensive purchase and one that only a few very keen virtual pilots will posses but they are available and can often incorporate instrumentation or have controls affixed to them.

So whilst it is not necessary to own all of this equipment to enjoy your airplane simulator it sure makes for a better experience in your flying and the beauty is that these items can be acquired gradually to build that perfect home cockpit.

Is your computer unable to keep up with your work speed? Do not upgrade your computer hardware just yet! An upgrade can indeed speed up your computer, but it is not the only fix to a slow system. You can speed up your computer without resorting to costly upgrades which can be a hassle to do.

Our computers slow down and freeze up for a number of reasons. One common culprit is overheating. If your computer is freezing up on you, do not freak out and get the latest hardware. Move to a cooler area in your room and keep all of your computer hardware away from direct sunlight. In addition, make sure that the air vents on your computer case are not blocked by your stack of paperwork or other obstructions.

If you have not cleaned your computer in weeks, your internal computer components may be covered in dust. This compounds your overheating problems and your computer’s slow response times. To solve this problem, get a can of compressed air and clean up your case.

If your computer is running cool but still coughing up, you may be running it too hard and fast. You can ease up your unit’s workload by closing the applications that you are not immediately using. Also, avoid running too many applications at the same time. You will not be able to manage more than two or three applications at the one, at any rate.

Restarting your computers can also work wonders to cure PC slowdowns. Sometimes, unwanted applications can run stealthily in the background and use up valuable system resources. If you are still plagued by speed problems on a squeaky clean system that is managing only a few open applications, your computer may be infected with malware such as viruses, spyware and adware. A restart can terminate these programs. They will not be removed from your system, however. You will need to get a good and updates anti-malware software and run scans in order to detect and remove these nasty intruders.

If all of these do not work, then it may be that one or a few of your computer components need replacing. Since upgrades are seldom cost-effective, it is always best to try and troubleshoot your speed problems without buying new computer hardware.
